New webpage - new begining?

A while back I used to have a website dedicated to the Savant Press publishing set-up, but it kept getting hacked! I ended up with more attention from scammers in darkened rooms from dodgy locations than new readers. A sad reflection of our current times unfortunately and I'm constantly agitated by having to invent and remember passwords, even for the most basic of web activity. I wonder how I'll cope when I'm older and wiser but less aware.

This beginning to my new blog on my new site could easily become a rant and would possibly even find a following, after all, we all love a moan, but not on this occasion. Now is the time to announce a new beginning, with the assistance of BookBub who will hold my hand, while guiding and protecting me through this process; enabling me to keep in touch with my readers. And all for a reasonable fee :)

My latest book, KEEP MOVING OR DIE, was a departure from fiction, as it's an autobiography. I began writing it as a legacy project, for my children and one day, their children to hopefully read and know who I am or was. It was going to be informal, maybe hastily thrown together and not published, but as I progressed through the writing and gathered all the photographs taken throughout my life, I realised that I only have one setting, and that is to make it as professional as possible, whilst still keeping it fun and accessible. The photos have worked a treat. They breathe so much life into the story.

It's made me think, should I do the same process with my other books? I have an amazing illustrated version of THE DA VINCI CODE, possible because of the real locations and historic facts carefully woven into the fictional drama. THE MANY LIVES OF ADAM CAPELLO follows the same pattern, mixing so many real historical facts, characters and locations with a fantastical tale. In fact, I'd even go so far to say it was my first semi-autobiographical work; fiction and fact reflecting my life and feelings; a reflection of my world viewpoint. Its certainly something I'd like to do in the future.

The same for KILLING TIME, with it's historic serial killer roaming the streets of a modern London and in 1888.

Would it enhance our imagination though, or simply narrow it in line with the images? It would certainly make it feel more real though - perfect for a chilling speculative fiction crime thriller.

Let me know your thoughts. I hope you enjoy this blog, which I shall endeavour to keep short, regular and fun.

And I've just set up my new domain. You can also find me at www.fictionfaction.com

All the best Mark / Adam
