So...
I'm having my first author's club meeting tomorrow, with just one other member, Luigi, but what a great connection. He's published 2 Roman historical novels and about to release his third in quick succession, in a trilogy he has been planning for decades. As part of his self promotion, he's had a trailer made for him and it looks great (I'll give a link in the near future). He's even had it shown at the Epsom Picture-house as a trailer before they screen this year's major blockbuster, The Odyssey.
It got me thinking. I've been wanting to film a trailer for a while now but it's so expensive and I'd have to find a crew, cast and location. Why not use AI to generate the trailer? Yes, I know, AI in my creative endeavours! but I'm not writing the original trailer using AI, its all part of my adapted screenplay - my 2 hour film that would, could, be an amazing film one day.
Learning how to use all these amazing AI film tools is overwhelming though. There's so much choice and so many YouTube videos showing how the magic is made but by people who know it so well that they rush through the small details so I get lost. I'll get there though. I generated the image in this post, which mirrors the opening scene from my book and screenplay.
We will see how I get on and I will definitively keep you updated if you're interested. For now though, I thought I'd give you a small, exclusive writer's gift... I'm posting the script for the trailer. Let me know what you think via the contact page- it's always lovely to hear from you.
Enjoy:
INT. HORSEFERRY ROAD MORGUE – NIGHT
The corridor stretches out like a steel throat, swallowing every sound except the low, mechanical hum of the freezers. Fluorescent lights flicker overhead, casting long, trembling shadows that seem to breathe with the darkness.
A single drip echoes from a leaky pipe, each drop landing with the weight of a ticking clock.
INT. FREEZER COMPARTMENT – CONTINUOUS
Cold vapour curls like ghostly fingers as the camera glides past rows of numbered drawers. It stops at one — ANGELA HARTLEY, 19 — the metal label slightly bent, as if someone had tried to tear it off.
Inside lies Angela’s body, pale and still, the stitched lines across her torso forming a brutal map of violence. The camera moves slowly upward, lingering on the unnatural stillness of her hands, her throat, her face.
Then—
A faint shimmer ripples across her features.
Her eyes snap open.
But not the eyes of the corpse. These belong to something else — a translucent, flickering apparition superimposed over her body, as though her soul is trapped between layers of reality.
Angela’s ghost slams her palms against the freezer ceiling, the metal vibrating with a hollow clang.
ANGELA (GHOST)
Help me! Please! I know who did this! For the love of God—someone help me!
Her voice echoes unnaturally, as if bouncing between worlds. Frost blooms across the inside of the compartment with each desperate breath.
INT. MORGUE – SAME MOMENT
The room remains still.
The freezers hum on, indifferent.
A clipboard lies on a counter, pages rustling though there is no breeze. A shadow passes across the wall — quick, deliberate — but no footsteps follow.
The lights flicker again.
And the morgue returns to silence.
