Ahoy!
For any of you that have read my biog, Keep Moving or Die, you'll remember the chapters dedicated to my time spent living and working on cruise ships from 1988-1991. Yes I know, I can't believe I'm that old either. It was the end of possibly the most adventurous music and fashion scene ever, from Synth pop to punk music, Mohawks to cricket jumpers (Haircut 100 anyone?) to a recovering economy, reflected from Gordan Gekko's words in the 1987 film, Wall Street, 'Greed is good".
The photo of the M/V Norway that you can see in the photo heading this blog, shows what was in it's day, the largest cruise ship in the world, taking 2,200 passengers. These days they regularly fit over 6,000 passengers and 2,000 crew. To do that, they weigh in excess of 165,000 tons! Now I'm no scientist, so I can't explain how that can float, but I'm still waiting to be convinced, and I lived on these things. The Norway was beautiful though, a last hurrah from the golden age of cruise liners that used to race across the Atlantic in a more sophisticated way to get to America. Two formal nights a week - with an enforced dress code of Tux, suit or dress for the ladies, a lobster thermidor or steak dinner and dancing all over the ship.
I was reminded of these days while browsing through my YouTube account the other day and saw one of my first podcast interviews for Sam Catlin. I'd met Sam a month earlier, while doing some filming and somehow we both discovered that we'd experienced the same adventure that is working on ships. It's been a couple of years since that interview, and Sam has been doing an amazing job putting together his fun, full length interviews, and short bait clips for sites like Instagram. I have so much to learn in that regard, so I apologise for any amateurish social posts in the future.
Anyhoo... I thought I'd post this clip of how hard he is working towards pushing his story forward. It's short and heartwarming, so take a look if you like that sort of thing. The link is:

Sam is a guy with a dream, just like a lot of us. I admire his work ethic...
Oh, by the way, I've started offering a free PDF of the spanking new version, 2nd edition, of my 1st book, The Many Lives of Adam Capello to anyone who signs up to my mailing list. As some of you were with me from the early days, I don't want you missing out on that, so please message me on the contact page and I'll personally send you a copy - it's really good, honest! Some might even find it a little life changing.
Until next time,
Mark (sometimes known as Adam)
