Okay, I don't want to brag, but what else is a blog for? Well, apart from promotion for the thousands of hours I've put into writing, editing and promoting my books. I've continued to be busy, running on the momentum created via my A.I book trailers. I advertised on Facebook and got some professional critiques done Via Titan Literary and Readers Favorite (yep, American spelling). On all 3 books, I was awarded 5 Stars! Yes, even I was surprised. You can see the reviews at the links below:
https://literarytitan.com/ and https://readersfavorite.com - just type in the book title or my name, M W Taylor.
As they reached the 5-star level, they were also entered into their competitions. I'll keep you updated, although Readers Favorites isn't until September next year - I just missed the annual deadline, which is a shame, but always good to have something to look forward to.
And with that, sales have improved, and I'm getting more reviews posted on Amazon! For self-publishers, that is the golden key to increased sales. It's also incredibly encouraging to hear good reviews after what is a hard slog - so a heartfelt thank you to those who posted!!!
You can see those reviews on my Amazon book pages.
BookBub will probably be my next campaign, and sorting out audiobook versions of my 2 novels. Audiobooks are very popular now, with fewer readers but a growing demand of listeners. I'd be an idiot to miss this opportunity, but I'm wrestling with the dilemma of finding an actor I trust and a studio to record it, or record them myself as the author who truly understands the inside and out of every detail in the books. It really is a tough choice. If anyone has tried recording an audiobook, please get in touch.
And when I get time, I'm looking at changing my authors pub meet to an online version via Zoom or Teams or whatever people are using these days. I'd have loved a pub version, but I've had very little response locally. The main thing is helping each other... including dealing with a lot of sharks out there pretending to be agents, editors or marketing experts that cold-call via email. I'll talk a lot more about that in my next blog. Until then, I'll bid you farewell and leave a few of my favourite new KILLING TIME Amazon reviews for you to take a peek at.
All the best,
Mark
Megabou98 - 5 out of 5 stars - KILLING TIME
A dark, thrilling, and brilliantly original sci-fi mystery that redefines the Jack the Ripper legend

M. W. Taylor delivers an absolute masterclass in genre-bending suspense with Killing Time. By weaving together speculative sci-fi, past-life regression, and real historical true crime, Taylor has crafted a high-concept thriller that keeps you completely hooked from beginning to end.
The premise of "Awakening"—a science that allows people to access their past lives—is fascinating on its own, but using it to hunt down the revived consciousness of Jack the Ripper in modern times is pure genius. The plot is fast-paced, atmospheric, and full of unexpected twists and rich historical detail. Taylor draws on his background to bring an incredible level of realism and tension to every investigation scene.

5 out of 5 stars - Killing Time -Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 29, 2026
Format: Paperback - Verified Purchase
The themes in Killing Time are unique to anything I've read or written concerning reincarnation, especially as regards the efforts of Detective Jason Ives as he struggles not only with identifying and stopping the current living killer, but the near-unbelievable fact that this monster had, in a past life, been known as Jack the Ripper. Taylor does a brilliant job of increasing the pace, the surprises, and the conflicts between Jason and his target, who turns out to be anything but what he expected. No spoilers, but the surprise is truly a surprise and, for me, a spectacular turn of events. Masterfully combining a detective story with paranormal mystery, mixing in real events of the past, horror, and even a dash of romance, Killing Time is a novel that fans of these genres will enjoy and be looking for more of the same from M.W. Taylor.

5.0 out of 5 - stars A brilliant, dark twist on classic crime—prepare to lose some sleep!

I picked up Killing Time by M. W. Taylor expecting a standard crime procedural, but it delivered so much more.
The story takes one of history’s darkest figures—Jack the Ripper—and breathes entirely new, terrifying life into the lore. Blending raw detective mystery with deep psychological intrigue, Taylor crafts a plot that feels genuinely fresh rather than recycled. The pacing is relentless; every chapter ends with a hook that makes "just one more chapter before bed" impossible. The characters have real weight, the atmosphere is gritty and tense from page one, and the mystery kept me guessing right up to the end.
